Each earring is made from a circle of reticulated silver approx. 8mm in diameter, with a single 3mm garnet gemstone set onto it. The surface patterns on the silver are unique and achieved by a process called reticulation (see below).
About Reticulated Silver - Reticulation is a controlled surface-melting process which produces an organic, wrinkled, textured, fine silver 'crust' on top of the underlying sterling silver. This is achieved by repeatedly heating and cleaning the silver (in acid). This process depletes the copper present in the sterling silver, leaving behind a 'skin' of higher silver purity, with a melting point greater than the sterling silver below.
